goldprice.dev vs TradingView

goldprice.dev supplies gold prices and history for your application’s backend, calculations, and charts. TradingView supplies the charting experience: widgets connect to TradingView data, while the self-hosted Advanced Charts library uses your own datafeed. Why teams switch

An ongoing place to start

1,000 gold requests each month on Free let you test a recurring workload. No card is required. Commercial use starts on Pro at $30/month. The usage table shows the lowest tier for each request volume, giving a prototype a clear path to a larger workload.

History for gold applications

Daily gold bars reach 1996 on Pro. Free covers 30 days, and Physical covers one year. Each returned observation includes timestamps and staleness flags, so your application can show the age of a price alongside its value. The long daily series supports a different timescale from intraday bars.

One service for code and agents

MCP is included on every plan alongside REST. Start with gold; Pro adds silver and copper. The same account supports application requests and agent tools, with the access limits of its selected tier.

When they are the better pick

TradingView is the better pick for a ready-to-embed chart widget or its Advanced Charts interface. Widgets connect to TradingView data and handle the display. Advanced Charts gives a public website a self-hosted charting library connected to its own feed. Trading Platform serves brokers under a separate paid licence.

Questions

Can I use goldprice.dev commercially?

Yes. Pro includes commercial use at $30/month, subject to terms and source rights. Free and Physical are non-commercial. Free includes 1,000 monthly gold requests, MCP, and 30 days of history, with no credit card required.

Does Advanced Charts include market data?

No. The library contains no market data. You must connect a datafeed. TradingView widgets are different: they connect to TradingView data. A free chart library does not by itself supply prices to your backend or calculations.

Can goldprice.dev provide data for a chart?

It provides gold spot and historical data through an API. Your application connects those API responses to the chart library through its datafeed interface. goldprice.dev supplies the observations; the datafeed adapter maps them into the format expected by the chart.

Which TradingView licence covers a public chart?

The Advanced Charts licence is limited to public websites. Trading Platform is licensed to brokers with fees. The chart-library licence covers the display software, while the data provider’s licence covers the underlying prices. Widgets use their own TradingView data connection.
