The gold price per gram in any country is the USD price per gram times that year's USD to local-currency rate. The table below gives the USD price per gram at each year-end since 1996. The local-currency view is the same series multiplied by the exchange rate for that date.

The closes are year-end daily closes of XAU/USD. Each ounce price is in USD per troy ounce. Dividing it by 31.1035 gives the USD price per gram.
How to read it for your country
Local-currency gold history reflects both the USD gold price and currency moves. Gold can change in USD while the local currency also changes against the dollar. Those movements combine in the local price, so a country's gold chart can look different from the USD chart.
Use the exchange rate for the date of each close. The rate must express local-currency units per USD:
Local price per gram = (XAU/USD close ÷ 31.1035) × local-currency units per USD
Apply that formula to each row to build the country view. Using today's exchange rate for every historical row would answer a different question. It would not show the local-currency value on each date.
The yearly change column describes the USD series. A local-currency yearly change needs to be calculated from the converted local prices. Do not copy the USD percentage into the country view.
Keep the dates and units visible when comparing countries. If an exchange rate is unavailable for a date, leave that local value unavailable rather than substituting a rate from an unrelated date.
What the year-end series shows
Each row is a year-end daily close. It is not an annual average, an annual high or an annual low. The table provides a consistent point for comparing years, but it does not show every movement within a year.
The gram column changes the weight unit of the same USD close. It does not introduce a separate price series. Keep the underlying precision when converting currencies, then round the displayed result.

Get daily history by API
For a daily series, start with the historical API documentation. Check the available dates, symbols and request format before building the conversion. Convert each daily USD price per troy ounce to grams using the same divisor, 31.1035.
For local rates, exchangerate.dev offers history reaching back to 1999 on Plus and Pro, where available. Match each gold observation to the exchange rate for that date and confirm the rate direction before multiplying.
The table starts in 1996, so that exchange-rate coverage does not cover its entire span. Keep any missing local-currency history explicit. A USD gold observation alone is not enough to produce a historical local-currency price.
